Actor John Schneider on Tuesday applauded President Donald Trump's "stellar work under fire" over the past four years and said Democrats were celebrating a Joe Biden victory too early.
"Remember, you cannot arrest a shoplifter until you leave the store, so I would say verifying votes in a state is the equivalent of a shoplifter leaving the store," Schneider told Newsmax TV's "American Agenda."
"Now it's on. Now we can start and now, soon, we can finish."
Many news outlets have called the race for Biden. Trump has refused to concede and Newsmax has yet to project a winner, citing legal challenges in several key battleground states.
When asked whether Trump's legal team was working to find what went wrong to present it in court, Schneider responded: "I believe they know what went wrong, but they had to verify.
"The deed has to be done," he continued. "You can't kind of steal something. You have to be out of the store toward your car before you get tapped on the shoulder. So, I do think that's what's happening. I think the smart Democrats would have waited. They're celebrating this verification of the votes in Nevada, in Pennsylvania. They're celebrating all of that – kind of like a football team who celebrates victory at half time."
Schneider, who is premiering his new movie, "Stand On It," at drive-in events throughout the south in November and December, praised Trump for his work on COVID-19, the economy, unemployment, and "everything he promised in 2016."
"That man went after it with a vengeance," he told host Bob Sellers.
