John Zogby: Biden May Jump in Race as Clinton Viewed 'Unelectable'

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still the strong frontrunner in the Democratic presidential race, but continuing problems regarding her email server and low voter-trust numbers will eventually bring in another candidate, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax TV.

That person might very well be Vice President Joe Biden, Zogby told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth on Monday.

"He wants to and the people around him want to" run, Zogby said. "He's just watching and waiting to see what develops."

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist independent, is drawing support from the far left, but won't be the one to give Clinton a serious challenge, Zogby said.

"When push comes to shove Hillary's going to be viewed as unelectable, it's going to worry the establishment of her party," Zogby said. "It's not going to generate any enthusiasm among Latinos, among African-Americans, for that matter among young voters. Somebody will come in, and it could very well be Joe Biden."

The latest revelations about Clinton —  that the private email server she used while secretary of state was used to send classified information —  may not prove to be criminal, but "I do know is that it stinks," Zogby said.

As the Iowa caucuses approach, a weakened Clinton will have Democrats making a decision on finding another candidate who can do well in the general election, he said.

Zogby also said the recent undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood officials haggling over the price of fetal tissue from abortions are likely to bring in more young Republican voters.

"This issue of abortion is driven by intensity," he said. "When there is the killing of an abortion doctor in the late 1990s, the intensity is on the left on the pro-choice side, it turns close elections. When the intensity is on the other side, partial birth or late-term abortions, it turns elections and tilts them to the right."

The videos are likely to fuel the right to show up at the polls, but also fuels younger Christian conservatives who have wanted to avoid the abortion issue.

"They want to talk about global poverty and so on, and that could tilt them over into the Republican camp," Zogby said.
