Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., says the Senate won’t consider the updated COVID-19 relief bill that includes $2,000 stimulus checks for Americans.
“They won’t consider this at all,” Buck said during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Spicer & Co.”
“I said I would support this if they reduced or took away the pork and funded this $2,000 through the reduction of pork. They didn’t do that. They just wanted more and more spending. It’s a typical Democrat strategy. I think what they’re trying to do is appeal to voters in Georgia. It’s very cynical and sad. We’re in $30 trillion of debt right now and to just throw money around like that is typical (House Speaker Nancy) Pelosi-friendly.”
The Democrat-led House of Representatives voted 275-134 to meet President Donald Trump’s demand for $2,000 COVID-19 relief checks on Monday, sending the measure to an uncertain future in the GOP-controlled Senate.
Trump last week threatened to block the aid if Congress did not boost stimulus payments from $600 to $2,000.
Buck criticized the president’s approval and suggested this kind of bill will be regularly passed in a Biden administration .
“I voted against the bill and so did a number of other conservatives in the House,” Buck said. “I wish the president had some advisers around him that helped him understand why this was such a terrible bill before he signed it. I believe very strongly that this is the kind of bill we’re going to see in the next four years under the Biden administration. It’s stuffed with things we won’t even know about for months.”
