Actor Kevin Sorbo is hoping his new movie exposing the pervasive tragedy of human trafficking will get people to "wake up and start pointing fingers where they think something odd is happening" in their own communities.

In an interview on Newsmax TV Friday — when "Caged No More" was released nationwide — Sorbo and fellow actor Alan Powell tell "Newsmax Now" host Miranda Khan that the film aims to "bring light to this very, very dark subject."

"Every 30 seconds someone gets sucked into this dark and horrible world and this movie really brings light to that," Sorbo said.

"We're hoping this movie brings a lot of attention and wakes up people to realize that you know what's happening in your own backyard, please keep a vigil eye on what's going on in your neighborhoods," he said.

Though the world's fastest growing global crime, human trafficking must not overwhelm Americans, Sorbo added.

"If everybody does one little thing, obviously something huge is going to happen," he said.

"So we're hoping that everywhere around the country people wake up and start pointing fingers where they think something odd is happening."
