Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer
called it "incomprehensible" that Republicans couldn't get together to pass a border security bill on Thursday.
"The disarray among Republicans makes you pine for the days of earmarks and the rack," Krauthammer said Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"Special Report."

"It's to me incomprehensible why Republicans aren't getting together on this," he said, "so-called 'conservatives' opposing the bill."

Ted Cruz called several of his House counterparts into his office Wednesday night to argue against passage in the House because Speaker John Boehner's bill did not defund President Barack Obama's 2012 Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA) executive order that allowed some illegal immigrants to stay if they came to the United States as children.
"There’s not a chance in hell that the Senate will come back or the president will sign," the bill, Krauthammer said, "but at least the Republicans would have shown that they can do something."
"It is ridiculous to sue the president on a Wednesday because he oversteps the law, as he has done a dozen times illegally and unconstitutionally, and then on Thursday say that he should overstep the law, contradict the law that was passed in 2008, and deal with this himself,” Krauthammer said.
The William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 is being used by children flooding the border from Central America on claims they are facing violence and poverty. The act grants them special status because they are countries that do not share borders with the United States.
