Larry Klayman: John Huber 'Not the Right Guy' to Probe FISA Abuses

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has "buried his head in the sand" by appointing federal prosecutor John Huber to probe FISA abuses by the FBI and potential mishandling of investigations into Hillary Clinton's Uranium One deal, former federal prosecutor Larry Klayman told Newsmax TV on Friday.

"It's a step backward," Klayman, founder of the government watchdog Freedom Watch, said to Miranda Khan on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."

"[Hueber] is an establishment creature. He was actually appointed as U.S. attorney by Barack Obama and then reappointed by Jeff Sessions … So this is not the right guy.

"He's an establishment Justice Department career person, now U.S. attorney, who's not going to take any strong action against what went on at the FBI and Justice Department."

Klayman said Sessions should have appointed a special counsel instead, but has been distracted by his own issues.

"Jeff Sessions is so reflexive because he himself is under investigation by Robert Mueller and the Democratic prosecutors that Mueller has around him, for alleged Russian collusion, for obstruction of justice and the firing of [ex-FBI chief James] Comey … and also for perjury in front of Congress," Klayman told Khan.

"He's buried his head in the sand because he's worried about pushback … I think it's time for him to be fired or resign. I predict the president will fire him shortly. I think he's had it."

Klayman said he's offered to act as special counsel.

"You need a special counsel who's going to let it rip," he said.
