Conservative Lawyer: We're Not Cooperating With FBI's IRS Probe

The lawyer for 41 conservative groups suing the IRS for allegedly being targeted for their political beliefs has stopped cooperating with a FBI probe into the matter because it is zeroing in on the wrong people.

"We initially decided that we would have some of our clients cooperate and have now said we will no longer cooperate,'' Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"We realized this investigation … focused on low-level bureaucrats that it didn't include the senior management, that didn't include the chief council's office.

"The focus was on low-level IRS employees. People who were answering the phone, literally, and they were saying, well did you have to wait too long?''

Sekulow said the targeting of Americans because of their political shakes the core of the Constitution.

"We're talking about the very grassroots level of Americans too. Groups of a hundred people, small tea party organizations,'' he said.
