Hillary Clinton's video announcing her candidacy for president in 2016 was "lame" and empty, according to Fiscal Times columnist Liz Peek, who joined former GOP House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Monday on
Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."
"It really said absolutely nothing and it's going to be very much what her campaign is
— very cautious, safe, keeping Hillary at a good distance from the crowds and certainly from the media, but what did she tell us?" Peek said of the three-minute video featuring "everyday Americans."
"She didn't tell us anything. Her campaign is going to be less about message and more about money."

The video was vintage Clinton, DeLay added, "trying to manipulate the American people or not say anything, not give a vision, just saying 'I want to be president and here we go.'"
The idea of Hillary as the Democratic nominee excites DeLay, he said, because she is "saddled" with the Obama administration and its failed foreign policy, "which will be hers."
"Hillary is going to be a very flawed candidate," he said. "The polls right now on the trust question is upside down. More people distrust her than trust her. This is going to be a great, great year for Republicans."

Peek and DeLay also offered their opinions of Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who in an iPhone video asked Americans to tune in Monday, when he's expected to announce his intention to run.
"When you roll something out, you want it to be good and at least get the one bump that you're going to get for a long time," DeLay said. "He could've done something better than that, but at the same time, he's young, he's ready to go, he's one of the most articulate candidates out there, he can really give us a vision. We'll see how he does against Jeb Bush in his own home state, but I like him and I like them all. They all have great strengths and very few weaknesses."
Of all the potential candidates for the GOP, Peek said Rubio, a Cuban-American, represents the most "passionate defender of the United States."
"He can talk about a love of country that very few candidates really convey," she said.
"I'm tired of presidents and candidates who talk all about, as Obama did this weekend in South America, our flaws and how we've done things wrong in the past. I love the fact that it's someone who comes from Rubio's background who really gets it, why people want to come to the United States and why we need to fight for the values that make this country so strong."
