New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's recently-passed
SAFE Act gun control measure has actually made the Empire State far less safe and hurt business, says Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association.
"It's resulted in increased crime and gun crime rates in New York City [and] was supposed to stop all of that,'' King told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"As far as lost businesses, there's a number of people who have moved.... Kahr Arms, which makes a really top-shelf concealed carry pistol, moved their corporate offices [from Yonkers] to Pennsylvania.''

In addition, Remington moved the manufacture of two of their weapons lines from New York to Alabama, he said.
SAFE — the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 — which Cuomo calls the "toughest" gun law in the nation, was enacted following the Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut.
King said his group worries about President Barack Obama's use of executive power in Washington to put even more restrictions on firearms.
"Any method that comes from an edict rather than through a legislative process concerns us because there's not a lot we can do to control it other than doing a little bit of lobbying,'' he said.
"Where this has to stop is the Senate and the House of Representatives have to say enough is enough. You are not a monarch; you were elected by the people for the people and you have to follow the rules and if he doesn't, impeach him.
"That's the bottom line. He's not above the law. The president of this country answers to the Constitution and he is not above the law.''
