Journalist James O'Keefe, who dressed up as Osama bin Laden and crossed the southern border through the Rio Grande without being stopped
decided to see if it was just as easy for a terrorist to get into the United States through the northern border.
"We decided that if ISIS is such a threat that we actually decided to dress up like ISIS and see if we could get from Canada to the United States on a boat," O'Keefe told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on
Newsmax TV Thursday.
"We know that our southern border is porous, but what about our northern border? Are there security guards or border patrol agents?" he asked.

O'Keefe's Project Veritas dressed up a man as an ISIS terrorist equipped with a bag filled with what he claimed was the ebola virus he was bringing to unleash on the United States and ricin to poison the water of Cleveland residents. The fake terrorist traveled about 45 miles on a boat from Ontario to Cleveland, Ohio, where he disembarked and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, without being stopped once by border patrol.
"It's entirely possible that you can cross in a speedboat from Ontario to Ohio in an hour and not get caught," he explained.
"We were on a fishing boat dressed in black and masked as ISIS terrorist," he said.
"We demonstrated that once again we can get into our country and no one will be the wiser," he added.
O'Keefe also interviewed a boat captain on Lake Erie who said he had "never seen border patrol out here."
The captain explained that if someone is traveling to the United States on a boat he or she is "supposed to call" U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon arrival.
According to federal law, "operators of small pleasure vessels, arriving in the United States from a foreign port . . . are required to report their arrival to CBP immediately."
O'Keefe explained in his report that "the Canadian border has become relevant because the British government says that American journalist James Foley's ISIS assassin was an Englishmen."
The British government has also said that they believe over 500 British citizens have joined ISIS, he adds.
"Brits can enter Canada without a visa," he said in his report. "It's virtually an open door."
O'Keefe told Newsmax that his video of the fake ISIS terrorist entering the United States from Canada was the subject of a Senate hearing Wednesday in which Arizona Sen. John McCain asked Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Francis Taylor if knew about the Project Veritas video.
The Washington Free Beacon reported the exchange.
"He said, 'why didn't anybody stop me?'"
"The undersecretary said he knew about it, but he couldn't respond to McCain's comments," he explained.
"We're showing that our government officials are not doing their job," he added.
O'Keefe has been widely criticized for the work he has done exposing how easily U.S. borders can be crossed as well as other investigations he's done, but he contends that he shouldn't be the only journalist investigating these things.
"Journalists need to really start doing their jobs," he said. "We really need more journalism in this country."
"Go to the border and interview the sheriff. Go to Lake Erie if you want and interview the captain that we interviewed," he added.
"He says he hasn't seen a border patrol agent in 20 years."
