An undercover video that appears to unveil voter manipulation in Texas is a new version of the infamous ACORN scandal, says James O'Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas, which uncovered both deceptions.
"I don't think Project Veritas has ever really … shown law-breaking like this. It's a very clear-cut violation of the law," O'Keefe told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
In the new video, a field organizer for Battleground Texas — a PAC working to make Texas a swing state by increasing the share of Democratic votes — is caught making statements such as, "every time we register someone to vote we keep their name and number."
But keeping that data is unlawful under Texas’ privacy laws.

"It's a very clear cut violation of the law and one of the problems we can foresee is that when they have this information, they're willing to utilize private [it] …" O'Keefe said.
"They actually say this is how we swing battleground states, this is how we turn Texas into a Democratic voting state. And this is a direct quote, 'We're going to change the course of elections pretty dramatically."
It was O'Keefe's activist group that uncovered alleged corruption within the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a network of community-based groups advocating for low- and moderate-income families.
O'Keefe's activists secretly taped low-level ACORN employees allegedly advising clients how to hide their criminal activities and avoid paying taxes.
Although several investigations cleared ACORN of wrongdoing, the group lost major funding.
