David Clarke to Newsmax TV: Omarosa's Book Is 'Red Meat' for Liberal Media

Monday, 13 August 2018 03:35 PM EDT ET

Omarosa Manigault Newman is a "snake" out to discredit President Donald Trump in a bid to cash in with her new memoir about the White House, former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke told Newsmax TV on Monday.

"She's a backstabber . . . with friends like Omarosa, who needs enemies," Clarke told Monday's "America Talks Live."

"I've referred to her as a snake. A snake slithers along the ground in the grass. You don't really know that they're there. But if you step on that snake or if you're not prepared, when your back is turned that snake will jump up and bite you, and so that's what happened here."

The White House is furious, in the lead up to Tuesday's publication of "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House," Manigault Newman has released several audio recordings she secretly taped while working as a senior adviser to Trump.

Clarke told Newsmax TV hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo, and Gina Loudon, despite Manigault Newman's criticisms of Trump, she was in attendance at one of his rallies in June.

"She's served up red meat for the liberal media," he said. "That's what she knew she was going to do. She knew they would seize on it. They have seized on it just to damage the president."
