The Obama administration has removed many "roadblocks" over the years that have allowed Islamic jihadism to spread throughout the world, former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra told
Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
"What we've done over the last number of years is we've removed roadblocks," Hoekstra, 62, the Michigan Republican who headed the panel from 2004 to 2007, told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner. "We've removed a roadblock in Egypt, when we supported the overthrow of [Hosni] Mubarak by the Muslim brotherhood.
"We removed a roadblock when we facilitated in help to overthrow [Muammar] Gaddafi and created another failed state in Northern Africa. We removed a roadblock by supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and radical jihadists and overthrowing Syria and turning Syria into a failed state."

Hoekstra's latest book is
" Architects of Disaster: The Destruction of Libya."
"Our leadership has allowed Iraq to become a failed state and we're now also losing in Afghanistan," Hoekstra said. "We're not creating roadblocks.
"This administration is removing roadblocks and embracing the Muslim Brotherhood.
"It's time to realize that — and I think this is what's happening in Europe," he told Berliner. "What the American people are saying is: 'This is a war. This is a global war. We're losing the war. We don't have effective strategies to fight it.'
"They're looking for new leadership that's going to take this issue and confront it, contain it and defeat it," Hoekstra said. "We can win this war."
