Economist Peter Morici: Ted Cruz 'Doesn't Sell Well' Outside South

By    |   Tuesday, 19 April 2016 11:27 PM EDT ET

Ted Cruz was crushed in the New York primary on Tuesday because he "does not have real appeal outside the South — and even there it's been limited," economist Peter Morici told Newsmax TV.

"If you look at primary victories, he really hasn't won outside the South except very white Wisconsin," Morici, a business professor at the University of Maryland, told host J.D. Hayworth on "America Votes: 2016" in an interview. "He doesn't sell well in a state like New York, which means he's really not a viable general election candidate."
