Sen. Ted Cruz told Newsmax TV on Thursday that Republicans can pass legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare, but that "we've got to do it right."
"Results matter," the Texas Republican told "The Joe Pags Show" in an interview. "It's not just passing a bill whose title is Obamacare repeal.
"We actually go to do something that fixes the problem.
"It's that we honor our promise that we've made to the voters," Cruz continued. "For seven years, Republicans have said, 'If you elect us, we'll do this, we'll repeal Obamacare.'
"We've got to keep our word."

In addition, the first-term senator said, "we've got to lower premiums.
"Remember, [former President Barack] Obama promised your premiums would go down $2,500 a year," Cruz said. "That wasn't true – and instead they skyrocketed."
Cruz and Utah Sen. Mike Lee are working on an amendment to the Senate legislation that would remove protections for preexisting conditions and would call for greater choice for Americans.
"The federal government caused that problem," he told Pags. "We've got to fix it.
"Let's lower premiums. Let's have more competition, more choices, more options, more freedom – so that premiums go down and more people can afford to buy health insurance."
