The Democratic Party lawsuit charging President Donald Trump's campaign, Russia and WikiLeaks with conspiring to influence the 2016 presidential race is an "insane" move by a desperate political group "devoid of any ideas," former Westchester County executive Rob Astorino told Newsmax TV on Friday.
"And you don't think we need tort reform? So the Martians are also going to be sued because they're from the Red Planet and they had something to do with this?" Astorino rhetorically asked Miranda Khan and John Cardillo on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."
"This is just insane. But this is where the Democratic Party is now. They are so far over and they're running out of fuel in the tank of the Just Oppose Trump on Everything. That's their strategy."

The suit, filed Friday in Manhattan, alleges that Trump's campaign worked with the Russians and WikiLeaks, a website that released thousands of hacked emails from people close to Hillary Clinton.
Astorino, a Republican, said the average American is "getting sick and tired of this every night. It's either Russia collusion or Stormy Daniels and everything in the country is at a standstill. I think most people are saying there is really nothing there and when are we going to start to move on?"
The lawsuit, he said, shows that Democrats are "devoid of any ideas."
"Just running against Trump at the polls is not a good strategy because people are going to say, 'well, what do you have to offer?"' Astorino said. "Hopefully the courts throw this out, as frivolous as it is."
Astorino, who served as Westchester County executive from 2010 to 2017, is also a broadcaster and helped launched ESPN Radio in New York City.
