Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax on Wednesday that "Biden people" are attempting to prosecute him and some of former President Donald Trump's attorneys for "defending and advocating for an innocent man."

Giuliani said in an interview on "The Chris Salcedo Show" following his surrender in Atlanta to authorities to face charges over allegations of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election that "constitutional rights mean nothing to these Biden people."

He said, "They operate like communists," continuing, "This was a terrible thing. And it's not because of me … look at all the attorneys that are [being] prosecuted here. I'm basically being prosecuted for doing what I've done … over and over again as part of my profession. And in my case, I believe I was defending and advocating for an innocent man."

Giuliani added, "I began representing [Trump] when he was falsely accused of Russian collusion. And I don't understand this. I mean, we proved they were lying and we were telling the truth. And then … they accused us, President Trump and I, of being Russian agents. That turned out to be a lie. Not only a lie, it's really a crime what they did there."

He later added, "I didn't know this until they came and raided my apartment, but they went and took my iCloud account the day that I began representing Donald Trump 3.5 years ago, the FBI stole it when they took it. And they had it for 2.5-3 years. And you know when they gave it up? The day I stopped representing him."

Giuliani said, "It's about spying on him, and … there's nothing worse than invading attorney-client privilege. I mean, people, people can't exercise their right if they can't talk openly and honestly and examine possibilities with their lawyer."
