The country needs both an economic revival and to fix a broken spirituality, Republican presidential candidate Ryan Binkley told Newsmax on Wednesday.
Binkley, who is both a pastor and an entrepreneur from Texas who joined the race in April, told "National Report" that "we need an economic revival, we are on a down track financially. We are actually setting up our children and our children's children for a financial collapse if we don't rescue it."
He also stressed that "spiritually, emotionally at the heart level we are so broken."
Binkley, who is president and CEO of Generational Group in Richardson, Texas, said that "God has blessed me with business and with the ministry" and said that he has a unique mission to unite the country with the love of God.
He said that the call to run his first-ever political campaign "really came from the heart from the Lord about eight years ago," stressing that "I'm sharing a message that it is time to throw out the old playbook. We have been on the one-yard line for three plays in a row rolling out the same playbook."
Binkley said that his message is "that the Republican Party needs to change. Open up its view to urban America, have a different message for college students ... get back to fiscal responsibility, demonopolize health care."
He also emphasized that "we also must broaden our party tent, we have to have a message to the poor and the immigrant, and my plan does that."
When asked if he really has a chance considering that he did not qualify for the first GOP primary debate and is barely registering in the polls, he said, "absolutely," as so far he has been focused mainly on Iowa, and only recently on New Hampshire.
He stressed that people are liking his message "because the party is stuck. At the end of the day, the party has not grown. We only got 46% of the vote in the last two [presidential] elections. [Former President] Donald Trump has done some good things, but he has not grown the party. And urban America is rejecting the Republican message, as are college students. If we want to win in 2024, we can't keep doing the same things."
Binkley urged voters to check out his message on social media to check out if they like his goals and his strategies to achieve them.
