Ex-Trump Adviser Nunberg: Dems Using Putin to 'Delegitimize' President-Elect

Democrats are using Russian President Vladimir Putin to "delegitimize" President-elect Donald Trump, attorney and Trump adviser Sam Nunberg told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"He's no friend of ours," Nunberg said of the Russian leader to "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "But the fact of the matter is it doesn't necessarily mean you have to call him a war criminal or anything.

"This is something we need to be cognizant of as Republicans," he added. "We shouldn't be special pleaders for Vladimir Putin.

"On the other hand, though, they're using him to delegitimize the president-elect as well.

"So, it's a careful balance here," Nunberg said. "But no, he's not an ally of ours — and he's not a friend of ours."
