Donald Trump could lose some of his conservative support after telling Fox News' Sean Hannity he was open to "softening" his plan to deport 11 million illegal immigrants, his former adviser Sam Nunberg tells Newsmax TV.
Trump "may lose enthusiasm, and he may actually lose more conservative voters that are his bread and butter right now," Nunberg told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth on Thursday. And the "softening" won't likely win over any new voters, either, he said.

After getting pushback, including from talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, Trump did backtrack in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper.
"The fact of the matter is, I watched that Hannity town hall and it seemed to me that Donald wanted to change the policy," Nunberg said. "He doesn't want to deport all 11 million people at once."
Nunberg said he always considered the idea of rounding up 11 million people and deporting them "a little over the top" and "a little radical."
