Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala., told Newsmax that regardless of who the next House speaker is, he will continue to work on cutting spending.
"I think it's so important that we move forward with what we've been doing: try to continue down the path of fiscal conservative responsibility and try to make sure that the American people know that regardless of who the speaker is, those of us who are here in Congress, we're going continue to work to get the job done," Moore said Wednesday on "American Agenda."
"And that's the end goal is to save money, cut spending, and try to get this thing back to a balanced budget."
The House went into recess on Wednesday following the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. Congress members of the lower chamber are slated to return Oct. 10 for a speaker candidate forum and will hold a vote on Oct. 11.
