Gen. McInerney: ISIS May Attack US As Early as Sept. 11

If the United States doesn't take action against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria now, it could face an attack on U.S. soil as early as this Sept. 11, says retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney.

Appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File," McInerney said fears that a U.S. attack on the terror group will make them hate the United States even more are "baloney."

"Radical Islamists are coming after us no matter what we do to them," McInerney said. "That ideology is evil as Nazism, fascism and communism."

He suggested a 30-day air campaign in Syria, hitting 200 targets a day around the clock. "And I assure you there won't be much left of ISIS," he said.

ISIS is operating from parts of Syria and Iraq. Limited airstrikes have been carried out in Iraq in recent days, after ISIS killed or surrounded religious minorities there and threatened to take over key cities in the Kurdistan region.

McInerney warned that if the United States doesn't weaken ISIS now, its members will soon be on U.S. soil.

"And they will be here maybe this 9/11," he said.
