Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that Roy Moore's fate was "up to the people of Alabama."
"Not to Paul Ryan, not to McConnell," DeLay, the former Texas Republican who was majority leader from 2003 to 2005, told host Miranda Khan on "America Talks Live" in an interview. "It's up to the people of Alabama.
"Roy Moore has every right to stand up and defend himself if he did not do this."

Of Moore's accusers, DeLay told Khan: "Certainly, the women should be held to a high standard and should not be attacked.
"But this needs to play out," he said. "Roy Moore has this election as the only way he can save his reputation and stave off all the character assassination.
"So, my advice to all these people who are not from Alabama is you can comment on it and you have an opinion about, it but let the people of Alabama decide.
"And they will decide."
