Sam Nunberg: Christie Axed Because He Saw Trump as Loser

Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., was unceremoniously booted from Donald Trump's transition-team chair because he lost faith in the Republican presidential nominee's ability to win, Sam Nunberg, a former Trump "campaign adviser," told Newsmax TV.

"Chris Christie was running [the original transition team], and he didn't do anything those last five weeks," Nunberg told host Steve Malzberg on Thursday's "America Talks Live."

"It's one of the reasons why he was fired, because he thought that President-elect Trump was going to lose."

Nunberg disagreed with reports, including a New York Times article, alleging the transition was in disarray.

Since vice president-elect Mike Pence took over for Christie to lead the transition, "it's actually moving extremely smoothly. It's moving extremely quickly," he told Malzberg. "Pence is doing a fantastic job . . . things are good."

As to reports Nikki Haley is being considered as Trump's secretary of state, Nunberg believes the South Carolina governor would be qualified.

"She has a lot of background . . . because of the port there in South Carolina. She's dealt with a lot of foreign countries."
