Former President Ronald Reagan was "a master communicator" who would "absolutely" have used Twitter — but in a "very coordinated and disciplined" way, John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"He took advantage of every medium possible to get his message across," Heubusch told Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg in an interview.

"Would he have done it the way that President Trump?" he asked. "I think not.

"President Reagan knew the value of communications strategy — a very coordinated and disciplined approach to getting his message out.

"What he wouldn't have done is allow the tweets to be in conflict with his message," Heubusch told Malzberg.

"He had a very talented staff around him, and he understood how to work the communications machine such that his tweets would've been in coordination with the rest of the whole message machine.

"I think that's where the difference lies."
