Michael Reagan: Romney Will Run for Senate Seat — Might Win

By    |   Wednesday, 03 January 2018 09:07 PM EST ET

Mitt Romney will likely run for the Senate this year and has a good chance of winning, Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.

Reagan appeared on "Newsmax Now" and said he is bullish on a Romney Senate campaign, now that Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, will retire at the end of 2018.

"I think that he probably has a very good chance of winning Utah, because he is Mitt Romney," Reagan said. "He's got all the money in the world to run an affordable campaign, if you will, and he's done some great things for Utah in the past. So, I think he has a great chance to win this campaign."

Romney released a statement Tuesday after Hatch revealed his retirement plans, but he did not address rumors he will run for the seat. He did, however, change his location on his Twitter profile from "Massachusetts," where he served as governor from 2003-2007, to "Holladay, UT."

Romney and his wife Ann have maintained homes in Utah for several years. In 2013, they made Utah their primary state of residence.

Reagan added if Romney decides to run, watch for President Donald Trump to stay on the sidelines during the campaign.
