Incoming freshman House Republicans Beth Van Duyne and Lisa McClain said on Newsmax TV on Wednesday that they and their fellow GOP newcomers to Congress are energized to “fight” the progressive forces seeking to adopt more socialist policies and programs.

Van Duyne, who with Michelle Fischbach, Nancy Mace, and Jessica Taylor launched a “Conservative Squad” group in 2019 to take on socialist Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, says they are motivated to reverse or at least stem the actions of the Democrat-dominated House of Representatives since 2018.

“As a freshman class, I think a lot of us are holding the same ideals,” the 50-year-old Van Duyne said on “Spicer & Co.” “We see what’s going around in our country right now — the loss of our freedoms, the loss, really, of focus — and what the Democrats have done over the last two years: impeachment over infrastructure; Russian collusion over healthcare. And we’re really wanting to fight back.

“This freshman class has got a lot of energy, great new ideas, dedication, wonderful experiences, a diverse set of experiences, and lists of success, and we’re ready to get to work.”

Van Duyne, who replaced eight-term Republican Kenny Marchant as the representative from Texas’ 24th Congressional District between Dallas and Fort Worth, joined Mace from South Carolina and Fischbach from Minnesota in winning their seats. Taylor lost her primary race to fellow Republican Barry Moore who ultimately won Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District seat.

McClain, 54, a former manager of American Express Financial Advisors and a senior vice president of a financial services company, replaced retiring Republican Paul Mitchell in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, or “Thumb.” Referring to Republicans’ 13-seat gain in the House of Representatives with two races still uncalled but the GOP leading, she sounded the call to reject more government-funded social welfare and embrace capitalism.

“The Americans spoke for traditional American values,” she said. “Let’s not forget we live in the greatest country in the world, which is America, which was built on capitalism. Our founding fathers believed in individual freedoms, individual rights, property rights, the rule of law, and that’s what I want to fight along with my other colleagues, especially in this freshman class, to get back to those traditional American values.

“And I say this, we need to understand … that we have an economic system called capitalism, that people are flocking to every single day in this country. I don’t see a lot of people flocking out of this country going to socialism or communism. Let’s not forget that. So let’s embrace this capitalistic principle and let’s get back to our traditional American roots and our American values.”
