Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., says he wouldn’t vote to override President Donald Trump should he veto the $740 billion defense bill.

“I don’t think I would vote to override the president if he should veto it. I share his concerns as it relates to Section 230,” Zeldin said Friday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Spicer & Co.”

The Defense Authorization Act passed with strong bipartisan support and veto-proof majorities, but Trump has threatened to veto it if lawmakers did not include a measure to eliminate Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which protects tech giants like Facebook, Google, and Twitter from being held liable for anything users post on their platforms.

“I will Veto the Defense Bill, which will make China very unhappy. They love it,” Trump tweeted Thursday. “Must have Section 230 termination, protect our National Monuments and allow for removal of military from far away, and very unappreciative, lands. Thank you!”

The Senate passed the bill, 84-13, earlier Friday.

Zeldin, though, said the making of this bill is more complicated.

“There are many good provisions inside the NDAA as well, including a troop pay raise. The process of producing this bill is very different than what you’re seeing play out right now in Congress where they’re negotiating an omnibus bill and a COVID response bill at the highest levels of leadership. The NDAA in many respects is crafted inside of committee, Republicans and Democrats working together, but because of Section 230, the president has made it clear that he intends on vetoing it.”
