Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a 2016 presidential candidate, received an endorsement Friday from fellow non-interventionist Rep. Walter B. Jones of North Carolina.
"He's not talked to me and he doesn't know it, but if he wants me, I'll be out there pushing for him because I like his policy — not just on foreign policy, but how he thinks America should come back to its greatness," Jones said during an appearance on
Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."

The Republican Party is becoming the war party, Jones said, and Paul is the candidate who can reverse that course.
"When you look at all of this spending in Afghanistan, which is a total waste of the taxpayers' money — and I speak publicly about this on the floor of the House, but also back in my district, that we continue to support intervention around the world, and I don't think that is a good policy for the United States of America and a good policy for our military," he said.
"We've worn out our military, we're trying to police the world. It makes no sense, and that's just one reason, but not the only reason, why I like Sen. Rand Paul."
Paul, he said, scares liberals, who have already gone on the offensive.
"The liberals understand that a Rand Paul would be the type of person that could defeat Hillary Clinton, and the liberals are trying to tear him down right now as much as they can," he said. "Paul brings to the debate a different look at the future of America."
Jones briefly discussed the proposed deal with Iran, though he didn't say directly whether he thinks an "imperfect deal" with Iran is preferable to no deal.
If it goes forward, he said, cautioning that the Iranians may not want a deal "for their own self-serving reasons," President Barack Obama "needs to allow the members of Congress to have the ability to scrutinize the agreement — and that means the American people."
