Rep. William Timmons to Newsmax: 'Double Standard' Not Charging Biden

It is "clearly a double standard" that the Department of Justice will not bring charges against President Joe Biden for mishandling government documents when former President Donald Trump is facing such charges, Rep. William Timmons, R-S.C., told Newsmax on Saturday.

"If there was ever any better proof that there is a two-tiered system of justice, this is it," Timmons told "Saturday Report." "President Biden — who did not have the ability to declassify documents as vice president or a senator — clearly has broken the law.

"But, because he's old and forgetful, they're not going to indict him."

Trump could declassify documents as a president, but he got charged in connection with storing documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

It is "shocking" the Cabinet has not invoked the 25th Amendment on Biden, according to Timmons, considering special counsel Robert Hur's report included documentation on the president's mental capabilities.

"He clearly lacks the mental capacity to be president of the United States," Timmons said. "When he goes to defend himself, he stumbles even further. It's just outrageous."

Timmons, speaking from Trump's campaign rally in Conway, South Carolina, also called for all criminal cases against Trump to be dismissed.

"The fact that the Department of Justice and all these rogue prosecutors are going after him, it's just unbelievable that this is the United States of America," he said. "That's why this election is so important in November, we're going to send Biden back to the old folks home, and President Trump's going to get our country back on track."

Timmons also Saturday called on GOP candidate Nikki Haley to drop out of the race if she loses South Carolina, her home state.

"If the polls are correct, especially in our own home state, President Trump wins by 35 points," he said. "She has to drop out immediately.

"To continue forward is just outrageous."

Keeping Haley in the race also means Republicans are "wasting money," Timmons lamented.

"All of our fire needs to be aimed at this administration and the fact that President Joe Biden is incapable," he concluded.
