Former FBI assistant director Ron Hosko on Wednesday praised FBI nominee Christopher Wray for breaking with President Donald Trump and not declaring special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation as a "witch hunt."
"Bob Mueller's commission is to look at Russian influence and other factors that might be related to it," he told Newsmax TV host Miranda Khan on "America Talks Live."

"Not necessarily collusion, which I think a lot of people are leaping to that conclusion," said Hosko, who worked under both Mueller and James Comey at the FBI. "There is certainly predication for this investigation by Bob Mueller.
"The FBI predicates a lot of investigations on a regular basis. They have thousands of them.
"They are not witch hunts.
"There's a logical basis for the beginning. There's very often a logical basis for the conclusion," Hosko said.
"But I don't see any reason to call it a witch hunt – and I think it was incumbent on Mr. Wray to acknowledge that."
