David Horowitz Defends Bannon From Anti-Semitism Charge

The controversy surrounding President-elect Donald Trump's top advisor Steve Bannon is merely a "witch hunt," conservative writer David Horowitz told Newsmax TV.

The claims Bannon is an anti-Semite are rubbish, Horowitz told the "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Wednesday.

"I tell you, what we are witnessing here is the biggest witch hunt in American history – this witch hunt of Steve Bannon and anybody really who supports Trump," Horowitz told Malzberg.

Horowitz, the author of "Progressive Racism," spoke with Malzberg about a recent story he wrote defending Bannon that appeared on Breitbart — a website Bannon used to run. Critics have said Breitbart attracts anti-Semites and racists via controversial headlines and its tone of voice.

"I sent [the story] to them because I have a bigger audience," Horowitz, the editor of FrontPage magazine, said of Breitbart.

"The New York Times uses my quote, my headline against Bannon. They couldn't find a single thing he said that was anti-Semitic."

Horowitz added the Bannon claims are a product of Democrats, whose candidate Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election to Trump last week.

"This Bannon thing is completely invented, totally out of whole cloth," he said. "It's just a bunch of sore losers who want to tar and feather, stigmatize the Trump administration and will fight it every step of the way – never look at its actual programs or what it's actually doing as in this case, supporting Israel and the Jews."
