"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." These wise words spoken by physicist and Nobel Laureate Albert Einstein contribute much toward explaining why we are observing the rapid decline and perhaps the eventual extinction of women's sports.
Females should never be forced to compete against biological males in sports at any age, or at any level; this is common sense. Females should never have to share a locker room with a biological male at any age or in any setting; a woman shouldn't have to view male body parts before, during, or after competition; a woman should not be forced to undress in front of men biological born men; this is common decency.
Yes, decency. America is still a nation of moral norms and ethics. Yet, most people who aren't blissfully ignorant about what is going on are also terrified of being destroyed by the "trans mafia."Ergo the silence.
Women's swimming champion Riley Gaines is heroically standing up against the travesty of young women being denied formal recognition and awards for hard fought achievements, most of which are accomplished by rigorous training since early childhood. It is important to remember that Lia Thomas never beat Gaines; they tied but Thomas was given the trophy anyway.
Those who speak out often pay an expensive price, sacrificing their careers, risking becoming a target of harassment, and sometimes even being physically assaulted. I would never urge anyone to endanger themselves in any way, shape, or form, but we must all (those on the right, left, center and anywhere in between) collectively speak out against this prurient lunacy.
It is not just a matter of fair play, it's not just about fighting against thinly veiled misogyny. This is a fundamental issue of civil rights.
A biological male, Maelle Jacques, a sophomore from Kearsarge Regional High School, has taken numerous first place awards in the female division and is favored to win the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) indoor track championship. Jacques would have placed 16th if competing in the boys division.
The "fastest girl in Connecticut,"Chelsea Mitchell broke two school records in her first meet as a freshman at Canton High School. Her goals included winning a state championship and getting a track scholarship for college. Unfortunately for Mitchell, she had to compete against two biologically male athletes at the state level.
Last year, a biological male, Anne Andres dominated a female Canadian powerlifting competition, lifting 400 pounds more than the nearest female competitor.
The physical advantages that biological males have against females in competition are enormous. A recent study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) outline eight advantages possessed by trans athletes competing against women. These benefits included greater muscle mass, bone density, and lung capacity as well as far higher levels of testosterone.
The study goes on to state that "the inclusion of trans women in the elite female division needs to be reconsidered for fairness to female-born athletes."
Trans activists have long claimed that estrogen supplements and testosterone suppression substantially reduce or eliminate any advantage enjoyed by biological males against female athletes. If only that were true. ... Once again the actual science debunks this claim.
According to another study published by the NIH, "Longitudinal studies examining the effects of testosterone suppression on muscle mass and strength in transgender women consistently show very modest changes, where the loss of lean body mass, muscle area and strength typically amounts to approximately 5% after 12 months of treatment.
"Thus, the muscular advantage enjoyed by transgender women is only minimally reduced when testosterone is suppressed. Sports organizations should consider this evidence when reassessing current policies regarding participation of transgender women in the female category of sport."
How many young girls must lose interest in sports because they're forced to compete under impossible circumstances? In one of the funniest scenes on "Seinfeld," Kramer is mocked when it is discovered that he is the best student in his Dojo because he is competing against elementary school children.
Of course, no one is suggesting that the breadth of disadvantage is similar, but Kramer is mocked for his lack of awareness and sense of fair play, as he should be.
How many college scholarships must young women continue to lose in furtherance of some bizarre ideology?
Another question we should be asking is why is it that so far, male born athletes who have no pre-determined physical advantage among males decide to compete in women's sports? Why aren't we seeing trans athletes who excel in men's sports switching over?
We must treat biological males identifying as women with respect and dignity; that is fair and sensible. Does this also mean we must allow biological males to compete in women's sports? Never, no way no how. Get off the "sidelines" and speak up!
