A recent Hudson Institute Report, titled “Concrete Sky: Air Base Hardening in the Western Pacific," seems to be finally achieving traction on the topic of U.S. military base hardening in the Pacific.

Base hardening is achieving a climax of focus and attention in the context of increasing tensions with the People’s Republic of China over Taiwan, a rapid and continuous firing and replacement of senior generals and admirals by President Xi Jinping of the PRC, and President Donald Trump’s bold assertions of increasing sovereign American territory.
