Republicans have been vilified by liberals for contesting the recent presidential election results but a look back at the not-so-distant past reveals a glaring double standard. History shows Democrats have a pattern of doing the same after a presidential election yields a Republican White House win, with Nancy Pelosi and Democrats objecting to the legitimacy of President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory.
After GOP victories in 2000, 2004, and most recently in 2016, Democrat lawmakers used the electoral vote certification process as a way to challenge the election results. When President Trump was elected in 2016, Democrats began lodging their complaints, objecting to the outcome, and exhausting every avenue to keep Trump from taking the Oval Office.
