Former presidential candidate and political commentator Patrick Buchanan tells Newsmax that Tuesday night’s State of the Union Message is President Trump’s "last good chance" to explain why it may be necessary to declare a national emergency to build a wall on the U.S. southern border.

Trump will be speaking to the nation before a joint session of Congress in the House chamber at 9 p.m. Eastern. His address falls just 10 days before the expiration of a continuing resolution signed last month that ended a record, 31-day partial federal shutdown. Some 800,000 workers were furloughed.
