The American Civil Liberties Union is threatening to take President-elect Donald Trump to court if he follows through on controversial campaign promises on immigration, torture and other issues, The Hill reports.
"These proposals are not simply un-American and wrong-headed, they are unlawful and unconstitutional," Anthony Romero, executive director of the ACLU, said.
"They violate the First, Fourth, Fifth, Eight and Fourteenth Amendments. If you do not reverse course and instead endeavor to make these campaign promises a reality, you will have to contend with the full firepower of the ACLU at every step."

The group's website is openly soliciting donations with a big photo of Trump's face and the headline: "See You in Court."
And Romero, in a statement posted on the organization's website, urged Trump to reconsider and "change course on certain campaign promises," including massive deportation of undocumented immigrants, banning Muslims from entering the U.S. and reauthorizing waterboarding and other forms of torture.
"One thing is certain: We will be eternally vigilant every single day of your presidency," Romero added.
