President Donald Trump must do more to lead, according to Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.

"He's got to do better at bringing folks together," Kinzinger said Friday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"We look to the president for leadership right now, whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, for leadership, for calmness," he said.

Republicans want Trump to be on the same page as them, Kinzinger said. "For our agenda as Republicans, we look for him to spend his time out there selling things like tax reform and repeal and replace."

The Illinois congressman praised Trump for being helpful and involved in the healthcare discussion. "That impressed me, his ability to do that. What hasn't was just attacking your own party at a time when we all, kind of, have to be working together."

Kinzinger offered some praise for the president, noting his Afghanistan strategy, and said that Gen. John Kelly as chief of staff will be helpful.

Referring to the president, Kinzinger said, "Maybe he's going to learn that you've got to work together with your party. If not, it's going to be a very difficult four years for us."
