More than a dozen holdovers from the Obama administration are still working in the Pentagon, according to a new report.
Breitbart reports 14 people who worked under former President Barack Obama remain in their Department of Defense jobs, in part because there are dozens of positions that have gone unfilled in the first two months of President Donald Trump's first term.
Among the Obama holdovers are Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work, acting Army Secretary Robert Speer, acting Navy Secretary Sean Stackley, and acting Air Force Secretary Lisa Disbrow.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis is the only Trump appointee that requires Senate confirmation currently working in the Pentagon. There are 52 other Pentagon jobs the Trump administration has yet to fill.
There are, however, 32 Trump appointees working at the Department of Defense who did not require Senate confirmation.
The White House said Thursday that Trump intends to nominate six more people to work at the Pentagon as he seeks to beef up the Department of Defense's budget.
According to CBS News, part of the reason for the delay in staffing the Pentagon could be due to Mattis clashing with the White House over who it intends to nominate for civilian positions.
