Former Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., has not shut the door on seeking office again.
"I miss the whole job," he said in an interview with WCCO television in Minnesota.
"I loved that job, I loved the job as Senator… It was very meaningful for me and bittersweet, I would like to still be there."
Franken’s remarks came after making his first public appearance in the state since he resigned in January.
Asked if he had any plans to run for office again, he said: "I don’t know. I haven’t ruled it out, and I haven’t ruled it in."
Franken had stepped down amid accusations of sexual misconduct.
His wife, Franni, said his decision to leave the Senate has been difficult for both of them at times.
"It has been a challenge, but we do get to spend more time together, and I think there are times that both us would like to spend less time together," she said, laughing.
Franken was on hand for the dedication of the new O-Nay-Ge-Shig High School on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation.
