Former Vice President Al Gore might be hitting the campaign trail in an effort to woo millennial voters, CNN reported.

Gore served two terms as vice president to Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, but he showed no interest in Bill or Hillary Clinton campaigning for him when he won the Democratic presidential nomination himself in 2000.

CNN's Dana Bash noted the irony, saying, in hindsight, that likely was "a big mistake."

"A lot of people do," CNN's Wolf Blitzer said. "And he lost Florida by a very, very close margin. And a third-party candidate, Ralph Nader, got 90,000 votes."

The campaign apparently hopes Gore's climate change agenda will attract younger voters who have been flocking to Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

In addition to Gore, Clinton already has her husband on the campaign trail for her, as well as President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.
