Mitt Romney said Monday a victory for Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore would be a "stain" on the party and nation — a disavowal that came the same day President Donald Trump endorsed the controversial former judge.

"No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity," Romney tweeted.

The 2010 GOP presidential nominee and former Massachusetts governor last month called on Moore to "step aside" amid allegations of sexual misconduct — calling him unfit for office.

Trump had previously tweeted criticism of Moore's opponent, Democrat Doug Jones, and downplayed the allegations, but Monday, Trump gave Moore his full backing, calling the candidate from Air Force One and hailing him as a "fighter."

The president told Moore to "go get em Roy," The Hill reported.

Alabama's special election will be Dec. 12 to decide who fills the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
