Beleaguered Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore and Democratic opponent Doug Jones are agonizingly close, according to a new poll released Tuesday.
If the election were held today, Moore would receive 47 percent of votes compared to 45 percent for Jones, according to a Raycom News Network Senate Election poll. But the survey has a margin of error of 2 percentage points, meaning Jones and Moore are in a statistical tie.
Forty-five percent of voters said they believed all or some of the allegations against Moore, while 34 percent said they do not. Twenty-one percent said they believe some or all of the allegations, but also said the claims had not changed their decision.
The election is just three weeks away, and Moore's campaign has been rocked by allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girl's decades in the past. President Donald Trump on Tuesday told reporters, "we don't need a liberal person in there, a Democrat," and appeared to discount the allegations.

"Forty years is a long time, and this has never come up," Trump said.
"He denies it," Trump repeatedly asserted. "I mean, if you look at what is really going on and you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours, he totally denies it."
Four women have accused Moore of sexual misconduct, but Moore has denied the claims, calling The Washington Post report "fake news."
