Amy Coney Barrett, President Donald Trump's latest Supreme Court nominee, was stricken with the coronavirus over the summer but has recovered.

The Washington Post reported Friday, hours after Trump announced he has COVID-19, that Barrett already had the virus. She is now being tested every day because of her status as a nominee to the Supreme Court and turned in a negative test Friday morning, deputy White House press secretary Judd Deere said.

Barrett was last with Trump one week ago when she was announced on Sept. 26 as his choice to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Deere noted. But she has been to Capitol Hill multiple times since for private meetings with 30 senators as they prepare for her upcoming confirmation hearings.

The Post added that Barrett met with Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Notre Dame President John I. Jenkins, both of whom tested positive for the virus Friday.

Trump was in several cities over the last week for rallies, fundraisers, and Tuesday night's debate.
