New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said his state will not turn over voter information data to President Donald Trump's Commission on Election Integrity.

Cuomo, a Democrat, announced his decision on Twitter on Friday afternoon:

His decision came after Kris Kobach, vice chairman of the Commission on Election Integrity, sent letters to officials of all 50 states asking for voters' names, addresses, dates of birth, political parties, last four digits of social security numbers and voting history since 2006, according to The Hill.

Officials in Virginia, California and Kentucky also announced earlier that they would refuse the request from the commission, The Hill reported.

Trump created the commission to probe alleged acts of voter fraud in the 2016 election, The Washington Post reported. The president claimed nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants had illegally voted.
