Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI and a current CNN contributor, has been restricted from discussing a report from the Department of Justice’s inspector general about an agency official.

CNN reported on Thursday that a former FBI attorney is under investigation for allegedly altering a document while working to obtain a warrant to conduct surveillance on Carter Page, who was an adviser for President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign at the time.

"My understanding is this: Andrew, you can't talk about it," CNN anchor Andrew Cuomo said while introducing McCabe on Thursday night, after the network broke the story earlier that day, according to RealClearPolitics. "You're restricted from discussing the report of the investigation."

"I've currently reviewed the report. I'm in the process of doing that," McCabe said. "I’ve agreed not to speak about it in any way until that process is over,"

Cuomo said that he would “respect that,” and not ask McCabe to discuss it.

Former FBI General Counsel James Baker, who now works for CNN as well, was also unable to discuss the report.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz is currently reviewing the methods the FBI used in obtaining warrants via the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and is expected to release his report in December. It’s currently unknown if the allegedly altered document played a significant role in getting the warrant.
