President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen amid news of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, which has caused steep stock market losses all week, according to a new poll.
The results from the Rasmussen Reports survey show that Trump's approval rating on Friday hit 47% among likely U.S. voters, with 52% disapproving, down from 52% approval the day before. Thirty-five percent "strongly approve of Trump's job performance and 44% strongly disapprove," which equals a Presidential Approval Index rating of -9. Trump's Rasmussen approval rating hasn't dropped below 47% in about a month, when it hit 46% in a poll on Jan. 22.
A Morning Consult poll from earlier this week showed Trump's approval rating was at 42%, with 52% disapproving.
Rasmussen polls 500 likely voters on a three-day rolling average basis, for a full sample of 1,500 likely voters and a +/- 2.5 percentage point margin of error.
