President-elect Donald Trump's transition team will allow U.S. attorneys and marshals to stay in their posts past Friday's inauguration, Politico reports.
The Justice Department said Tuesday night that the nation's federal prosecutors were notified that they can stay on until successors are confirmed.
One high-profile federal prosecutor, Preet Bharara of Manhattan, met with Trump in November and agreed to stay on permanently.
Also, though Attorney General Loretta Lynch's final day will be Friday, deputy AG Sally Yates will stay on at the request of Trump's administration until a successor is named and confirmed.
