Bachmann: Media Has Double Standard on Gaffes

Minnesota GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann, a possible candidate for president next year, gave it to the mainstream media Tuesday. She said a verbal miscue she made about the Revolutionary War received attention only because she is a conservative politician, Politico reports.

“We all know there’s a double standard in the media, … as we know all 3,400 members of the mainstream media are part of the Obama press contingent,” she told The Laura Ingraham Show.

Over the weekend, Bachmann mistakenly put the battles that started the Revolutionary War in New Hampshire instead of Massachusetts. "You're the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord," she told a Manchester, N.H. gathering.

On Tuesday Bachmann pointed out that the media didn’t much care when President Barack Obama greatly overstated that 10,000 people died in Kansas tornadoes or said that he visited 57 states on the campaign trail. “Only if a conservative makes a misstep is it considered interesting,” she said.
