Republican Sen. Ben Sasse tweeted Tuesday that Donald Trump presented good ideas about ethics reform in government.
Trump's five-point plan included proposals for stricter rules on lobbyists, such as a five-year ban before a former legislator or official can become one.
The Nebraska Republican's praise comes after he has been a prominent critic of the real-estate mogul.
In February, Sasse was the first sitting U.S. senator to oppose Trump's candidacy. In a Facebook post where he wrote, "A presidential candidate who boasts about what he'll do during his 'reign' and refuses to condemn the KKK cannot lead a conservative movement in America."
In July, before the Republican National Convention, he told The Hill that he would not be attending because "he will instead take his kids to watch some dumpster fires across the states, all of which enjoy more popularity than the current front-runners."
